B.El.Ed. stands for Bachelor of Elementary Education. It is an undergraduate level bachelor’s degree course. The Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) programme is a four-year integrated professional degree programme of Elementary Teacher Education offered after the senior secondary (class XII) stage of school. This is a bilingual programme, conceptualized by the Maulana Azad Centre for Elementary and Social Education (MACESE) of the Department of Education, University of Delhi.

DU B.El.Ed 2020 - Eligibility for B.El.Ed
- · Candidates aspiring for admission to the course are required to fulfill the following minimum eligibility criteria.
- · or such equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline, completed by a recognized educational Board.
- · 2-year diploma in Elementary Education
- · A minimum aggregate score of 50% (45% for SC/ST/OBC candidates) at the 10+2 level.
- · Candidates appearing for their 10+2 final examinations are also eligible to apply for the course on provisional basis.

1. All sections and their questions are compulsory.
2. The Entrance Test will be of 2 (two) hours duration.
3. There will be two sections A and B consisting of 100 Multiple Choice Questions in all.
Section A
Part (i): Questions will be based on comprehension and the ability to use language in different contexts. Candidates are required to attempt both English and Hindi questions.
Part (ii): Questions will be based on application of concepts in Mathematics upto Class X.
Section B
Part(i): Questions will be based on application of concepts in Science up to Class X.
Part (ii): Questions will be based on application of concepts in Social Sciences up to Class X.
4. Each question would carry 4 (four) marks. There is NEGATIVE MARKING. For each wrong answer 1 (one) mark would be deducted.
Note: Please note that there will be Internal Sectional qualifying marks for Section A which will be 50% for all candidates and for Section B which will be 40% for each of the components separately.

To apply for admission in the Delhi University, candidates need to apply for the entrance test first.

DU B.El.Ed 2020: Admission Process
Some colleges also offer admission on the basis of obtained merit at the 10+2 level. However, generally, in most of the colleges and institutes offering the course, admission is provided based on the candidate’s performance in a relevant entrance test, conducted at any of State and national levels, followed by a subsequent round of counseling.
The round of counseling involves two additional rounds of Group Discussion and Personal Interview, wherein candidate’s general aptitude for the course is examined. A merit list is subsequently released issued by the institute allocating available seats to the qualifying candidates.

DU B.El.Ed 2020: Syllabus
B.El.Ed. course focuses on topics such as – communication skills, teaching skills, human and child development, subject-wise knowledge and relevant theory classes/courses. The academic program is a holistic mixture of traditional classroom lectures and hands-on practical sessions.
The syllabus can roughly be divided into the following parts – foundation courses, core courses, pedagogy courses, subject-wise courses and practical training.
