The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has prescribed the CLAT syllabus for UG. The UG CLAT syllabus comprises five sections - general knowledge including current affairs, legal and logical aptitude, maths, and English. The CLAT UG syllabus, on the other hand, is based on major subjects of the LLB program. The details of the CLAT syllabus are given below.

The total weightage of the Verbal Ability section accumulates to 20 percent of the paper. As per the new and updated CLAT Exam Pattern, all the questions are comprehension based where you’ll be asked questions from given passages. As far as the content or source is concerned, the passages will be around 450 words and will be taken from contemporary / historically significant fiction & non-fiction writing.
One of the reasons why the exam pattern was changed and comprehension-based questions were included was to check the comprehensive ability as well as language skills of the students.

How to Prepare For CLAT Legal Aptitude
The Consortium of NLUs implemented some changes in the Common Law Admission Test in due to which the focus now shifts on testing the critical thinking and analytical skills of the candidates. Even in the CLAT legal aptitude, no prior knowledge of legal subjects is required.
Rather, the section will be based on 4-5 comprehension passages and questions will be asked only from the passage. With the changed exam pattern of CLAT, the candidates also need to adopt a new approach for the preparation of CLAT legal aptitude.
CLAT Legal Aptitude - What will be Asked?
The legal aptitude section will comprise 4 to 5 comprehension passages, each of 450 words.
