3rd no = x, 1st no = (1 - 0.30)x = 0.7x
2nd no = (1 - 0.37)x = 0.63x
=2nd/1st = 0.63x / 0.7x   = 0.9 = 90%

Q2.The population of a village is 5000 and it increases at the rate of 2% every year. After 2 years, the population will be:

5000 (1.02)2 = new population = 5202

Q3. Out of a number of electronics items, a person purchases 60% coloured TV 5% of these were found to be defective. The percentage of defective TVs in all is:

Let initial price be 100, Increasing price by 20%, the new price = 120%

Decreasing the price by 20% then the new price

= 120% x 80% = 96%           Þ 4% less
