National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology is one of the great contribution by Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. NCHMCT manages academics centrally for hotel management through structured courses given by many Hotel Management Institutes and Food craft Institutes. There are more than 22000 hospitality chefs, executives and operational personnel in the Council.

NCHMCT conducts NCHM Joint Entrance Exam for the students to get admission in the top Hotel Management Institutes. Among those popular Institutes there are 16 National Level Colleges, 21 State Level and 15 Private Institutes that comes under NCHM JEE score cards.

Among all IHM’s, Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management Catering and Nutrition, Chandigarh is one of the Institute that also comes under NCHM JEE list. It is also affiliated to NCHMCT, which is monitored and guided by Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. The Institute was set up in 1990 in Government Sarai Building which was later shifted to its own building on 16^th Sep 1996.

Courses offered by IHM, Chandigarh

1. B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration
2. Diploma in Food Production

The students who are looking forward for their career in B.Sc. program are required to fill their application form for NCHM JEE. The Application form is available from December to April in both online and offline mode. The form is required to be sent to NCHMCT office, Noida by registered post/speed post.

The NCHM Joint Entrance Exam is conducted in the month of April by exam conducting authority of NCHMCT. Students are required to carry 2 copy of their admit card to the exam Centre. The admit card is available online only. No student will be allowed to sit for the exam without the admit card.

After the declaration of result, students are provided the merit list by the authorities according to the marks obtained by students. Further the students counseling is done and depending on their marks/rank students are allotted the Colleges. The candidates are required to do all the formalities required for the admission within the structured time given by college.
