First let us look at the BHU UET- Exam Pattern for entrance exam conducted for admission to the five year law program. The total duration of the exam will be two hours. Total marks are 450 and total questions are 150. This implies that the total marks for every correct answer are 3 marks and there is a negative marking of -1 mark for every incorrect answer. Unanswered questions will make no difference to the score and answers in which two options have been checked will be counted as wrong answers and will lead to negative marking of -1 mark.
Now let us look at the different sections covered in the entrance test . First up is general awareness. Then comes current affairs. Third section for this exam is aptitude and mental ability. Finally, the last subject you will be tested on is English comprehension.
Some syllabus related information about all these sections is that General awareness consists of questions on current affairs, Indian history, politics in India, science, and important dates in history. Mental ability consists of logical reasoning, critical reasoning, series based questions, and analogies. Then there is English comprehension wherein your knowledge of vocabulary, grammar, word usage, spellings, and idioms is tested.

For each correct answer one gets 3 marks and for every negative answer there will be a deduction of 1 mark. The subjects covered in the exam are same as that in the case of entrance exam for five year law program with the addition of one section which is legal knowledge. So, in all the subjects are general awareness, current affairs, legal knowledge and aptitude, mental ability and language comprehension.
For general awareness and current affairs one needs to prepare for politics, literature, economics, constitution, persons and places, international relations, books and authors, history, geography, civics, and general science. You need to prepare logical reasoning for mental ability and for English you need to prepare for reading comprehension and grammar. Finally for legal aptitude you need to prepare legal terms, torts and contracts, civil and criminal law, and historic law based questions.
Each section comprises of 30 questions and is for 90 marks. For all sections apart from English comprehension one gets 25 minutes and for English one gets 20 minutes and that adds upto 120 minutes or two hours.
Point to note is that there will be a set of questions on language comprehension in both English and Hindi and the candidate has to answer the questions from either set. This implies that every candidate has to choose between answering the set of Hindi questions or the set of English questions but not both.
It's pertinent to note that the exam will be conducted in the pen paper or offline mode at the exam centres.
There are a total of 230 seats in the three year LLB course and there are a min. of 30 seats and maximum of 60 seats in the five year LLB course. These seats will be filled on the basis of merit obtained in these entrance tests.
